A stylised human figure whose left arm is prolonged by the euro symbol, which symbolizes the euro as the latest step in the long history of trade, from prehistoric barter – evoked by the deliberately primitive style of the image – to the EMU.

Note: Out of the 1.000.000 commemorative coins issued, 20.000 coins of special uncirculated condition were placed in capsules for collectors of numismatic items. 7.000 of these encapsulated coins were placed in cases for the same reason.
